Bathroom Renovation in Northern Virginia
Project Overview
For this bathroom renovation, our clients wanted to expand their small and dated main bath, reclaiming lost space from an unused walk-in closet, and remodel an additional hall bathroom on the second floor in a modern style. To enhance the master bedroom’s layout and aesthetics, we introduced an additional window to balance the room’s appearance, ensuring the bed seamlessly integrated with the exterior wall’s alignment.
Design + Layout
In the primary bath, removing the existing walk-in closet gave us room for floor-to-ceiling custom cabinetry, for linens and clothes. We strategically positioned a spacious wet room at the rear, featuring a generously sized soaking tub, a rain shower head along with a wall-mounted shower arm, and a steam vent to craft an indulgent retreat. For the hallway bathroom, we opted for a sleek, oblong pentagonal shower in the corner, supported by two sturdy half-walls wrapped in matching tiles for enhanced durability and visual coherence. In the master bedroom, we achieved a harmonious balance by duplicating the existing window, thus establishing a well-proportioned wall that contributes to the room’s orderly appearance.
Style + Finishes
Our clients wanted a bold patterned tile to be the highlight of their bathroom–so from that tile we took the rest of our design cues. We embraced a design philosophy centered around bold, patterned tiles, which guided our selection of sleek black cabinetry, pristine white countertops, and brass fixtures to encapsulate elegance. The interior of the wet room is bathed in natural light through a strategically placed window, illuminating the intricate mosaic of black and white floor tiles and vibrant ceramic tiles on the walls. The coherence in design extends to the hallway bathroom, maintaining the black and white motif with consistent tiling, matte black accents, and a sleek floating vanity. In the master bedroom, we crafted a distinctive focal point with a deep blue accent wall, complemented by refined wainscot detailing for a layered and sophisticated look.
