Full Home Remodel + Addition In Chevy Chase, Washington, DC
Project Overview
Located in the vibrant Chevy Chase neighborhood of Washington, DC, our clients needed more space to accommodate their growing family and love for entertaining. After considering a move, they decided to renovate their cherished home instead. The original kitchen, breakfast nook, and screened porch felt cramped, especially for the tall husband. With a large extended family and frequent gatherings, a more spacious layout was essential. The basement and main bathroom also required significant upgrades. To enhance the outdoor experience, we designed a new patio that makes the sloped backyard more usable. Additionally, the Tudor-style front façade was updated to reflect the clients’ modern style preferences.
Design and Layout
To create a more open feel, we lowered the basement level and raised the new main bedroom, featuring a beautiful vaulted ceiling that adds a sense of grandeur. The existing slope of the rear yard required careful planning of floor levels and new stairs to blend the old and new spaces seamlessly. The original kitchen was transformed into a stylish powder room and bar area, enhancing both functionality and aesthetic appeal.
Style and Finish
The renovation highlights several standout features, including the striking vaulted ceiling in the main bedroom, a contemporary patio, and an updated front façade that boosts curb appeal. In the bar area, deep green and gray cabinetry paired with tropical wallpaper in the powder room adds lots of character. The kitchen strikes a perfect balance between classic and modern design, featuring white and navy blue shaker doors, select glass front cabinets, and elegant Mikado quartz countertops. This thoughtful blend of styles ensures that the renovated home meets modern needs while retaining its unique charm.
