Home Remodel + Addition In Chevy Chase, Washington, DC
Project Overview
Our clients in Washington, DC needed more space and decided to renovate their current home after entertaining the idea of moving. The original kitchen, breakfast nook, and screened porch were too small, especially for the tall husband. With a large extended family and frequent entertaining, more space was essential. The cramped basement and main bathroom were also included in the renovation. A new patio was added to make the sloped backyard more usable, and the Tudor-style front facade was updated to a modern look to fit the clients’ style preferences.
Design + Layout
To create more space and taller ceilings, we lowered the basement level and raised the new main bedroom, featuring a vaulted ceiling. The existing slope of the rear yard required careful planning of floor levels and new stairs to blend the old and new spaces. The original kitchen was turned into a powder room and bar area.
Style + Finishes
Key features include a vaulted ceiling in the main bedroom, a new patio, and a modernized front facade. Deep green and gray cabinets in the bar area and tropical wallpaper in the powder room add character, while the kitchen combines classic and contemporary elements for a stylish, functional space. The new kitchen has white and navy blue shaker doors, select glass front cabinets, and Mikado quartz counters.
