Home Renovation in Georgetown, DC
Project Overview
This clean Georgetown condo became our project through unusual circumstances. Four Brothers came to this renovation in the middle of the process. The plans had been drawn up by Fowlkes Studio, and work had already started on the interior when the owners asked us to pick up the torch and finish the remodel, as the original contractor became unable to fulfill the contract. Though not a typical undertaking for our team, we managed to rise to the occasion and finish transforming the condo. Located on a quiet side street, the owners had an excellent location, but needed our help in making it a livable family space.
Design + Layout
We built a light open-concept lower level with floor-to-ceiling windows and a large metal door leading outside. Designing the door was a precise undertaking, as it needed to be within ⅛” of the rough opening in order to install. Pristine lines in the kitchen cabinetry draw your gaze to the patio and lush yard, with natural light easily making its way inside. The kitchen island creates a galley corridor and adds significant workspace to an otherwise smaller kitchen footprint. We installed a glass stair rail leading to the upper level, where bedrooms, bathrooms, and a study needed to be redesigned.
Style + Finishes
The architect designed a minimal modern look. Steel-framed windows and doors, custom flat cabinetry, and the frameless glass stair rail contribute clean and straight lines to the style. A black, white, and gray palette accentuates the modern feel, with special touches like a solid quartz backsplash and paneled appliances blending in seamlessly. Wide plank oak flooring gives the space a comfortable warmth, and the tall windows and door invite the outside in.
