Rustic Bungalow Full Home Remodel in Brookland, Washington, DC
This Bungalow is located in Northeast Washington DC’s charming Brookland neighborhood, affectionally known as “Little Rome” for its diversity of older homes. Our clients have lived here for almost three decades and were very attached to the house, which was in a poor state. Beyond the need for general repair, the family wanted their home to feel more welcoming. Preserving the memories our homeowners had of the house was a priority for this renovation. Planks of the home’s original hard pine floor were salvaged and creatively repurposed to cover the side of the stairwell when enter the new kitchen.
With a passion for cooking and entertaining, our clients wanted a kitchen with ample countertop space and storage. In the center is a large island, featuring custom mesh-front cabinetry in Olive and a locally-sourced butcher block top. The floor surrounding the island is slate with a border of heart pine for added warmth. Wall and pantry cabinets are custom shaker-style in twine, olive, and ivory. Countertops by Caesarstone in Alpine Mist. Pendant lights by Kichler. All appliances are stainless steel from Wolf and Sub-Zero.
