Victorian Row House Remodel in Logan Circle, Washington, DC
Project Overview
For this historic Victorian Row Home in DC’s Logan Circle neighborhood, our client wanted to update the existing kitchen and add seating in the rear of the house. He frequently entertained, and needed a functional kitchen to stand up to his requirements. We were able to provide robust and high-end cabinets, appliances and equipment to suit his needs.
Design + Layout
Our client’s home already had plenty of noteworthy architectural and finishing touches: our task was to preserve and honor these finishes, while making modest modifications to the kitchen layout and the rear of the house. Of particular importance was the folding Euro-Line door at the end of the kitchen, allowing easy flow of houseguests from the kitchen and entertaining areas to the rear porch and patio. Otherwise, our work consisted of updating and refinishing the many historic trim pieces and fixtures.
Style + Finishes
This renovation paired a classic Victorian entryway, great room, study, and dining room with distinctly modern stylings in the kitchen and powder room. The monumental ornate woodwork surrounding the fireplaces lends a stately air to the front rooms, while the cool blue paneling of the kitchen lifts the mood. The classic large scale black and white chef’s tile floor in the kitchen brings a charming industrial air to the rear of the house.
